Performance Troupes
Troupes are a way for you to dig deeper into your dance experience. You meet with the same group for 2 hours a week for a full semester. You’ll learn two different routines and fine tune them to a performance-ready level.
At the end of the season, you get to showcase your hard work to your friends, family & the Alchemy community at our seasonal performances!
Troupe FAQs
What’s “The Alchemy Way”?
Most dance studios with performance troupes assume some amount of formal dance training by basing them off style like hip hop, contemporary, lyrical or jazz. At Alchemy, we truly believe it’s never too late to learn a new style or new skill, so our troupes are quite different from the norm.
Alchemy troupes are based on the elements: Earth, Fire, Water, Air. Each one has a different vibe and can incorporate all sorts of different styles! The really cool thing is that it leaves our instructors feeling free to get creative, our dancers less intimated to try something new, and it still pushes everyone a little bit out of their comfort zones.
What are auditions like?
Since we’re doing things so weird over here, auditions had to be a little funky too. Everyone signs up for one of our two audition days (usually ~3 hours). All dancers audition for all troupes and get to test out the flavor of each troupe & instructor that’s happening this semester.
After auditions, all the teachers collect preferences and make placements based on skill, energy & potential. You then choose your favorite one (or two) to participate in! Here are the approximate dates to look out for auditions each year. To get the full details as they come out, make sure you’re on our mailing list or follow us on IG or Facebook.
Audition Dates:
Fall semester: Typically the last weekend of July/first weekend of August
Spring semester: Typically the first weekend of January
